Social Welfare

The OWC was established as a charitable trust and currently supports seven charities on a monthly basis. Some Charities just like us to visit, maybe sing a song, be sung to or have a chat and a nice cup of tea with them. While others, require real support in terms of basic needs, like provisions such as dry milk, sugar, rice, dal and oil.

We raise funds for these charities through events during the year as a way to give back and support local institutions and it also offers the opportunity for expats to experience ‘real’ life here in India.

Our social welfare team visit each charity once a month and are always grateful for help and support. If you are able to help then please do, we would be very grateful.

The charities are:

  1. St.George’s Cathedral Home: A Home for the Aged (with support is also given to the crèche behind the home).
  2. Asha Niketan L'Arche : Fellowship with mentally retarded.
  3. Jeevodaya: A Hospice for the terminally ill.
  4. Nirmal Hriday: Mother Theresa Home for Women.
  5. St. Thomas Babies Home: Orphanage for children aged 0 to 5 years.
  6. Sathkaarya: Orphange for children aged 5 to 18.
  7. Cattitude: Trust for feline welfare.
